AHW Welcomes Tony Shields

AHW Welcomes Tony Shields to MCW Consortium on Public and Community Health

 

Tony_ShieldsMilwaukee, September 27, 2018 - The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) has announced that the Wisconsin Commissioner of Insurance has appointed Wisconsin Philanthropy Network (WPN) President and CEO Tony Shields to a seat on AHW's governance board, the MCW Consortium on Public and Community Health.

Mr. Shields brings experience in both philanthropy and community impact to the Constorium. As President and CEO of WPN, Shields leads all aspects of strategy and operations for staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission as the state's only organization devoted exclusively to the profession and practice of philanthropy.

Prior to joining WPN, Shields served as Executive Director of United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM), a collaborative of Milwaukee Settlement House Neighborhood Centers. At UNCOM, he led all aspects of administration, operations, programs, fundraising and services for the organization. Before UNCOM, he managed Community Relations for Harley-Davidson, Inc. In that role, Shields developed strategic plans and implemented outreach and programs for a number of factory-based and national initiatives and directed community outreach to support major company sponsored initiatives.

Before joining Harley-Davidson, Shields held community and public relations leadership/executive positions for organizations including Milwaukee Bucks Professional Basketball Inc., the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and public relations and marketing firms.

Over the years, Shields has served on various community boards and volunteered for several initiatives. Currently, his community involvement includes serving on the Leadership Council for Milwaukee Succeeds, the Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership Council and Cardinal Stritch University College of Business and Management Deans Advisory Board.

Mr. Shields holds both a Master of Science in Management and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interpersonal Communications from Cardinal Stritch University where he also serves as Adjunct Faculty in the University’s College of Business and Management.
