Strengthening reflective capacity to enhance early childhood mental health support across Wisconsin
Return to Listing
In Wisconsin, infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) consultants and reflective practice consultants (RPCs) play a vital role in supporting healthy development during the earliest years of life. These professionals build capacity in caregivers and other professionals to respond effectively to children's needs through relationship-based approaches. However, consultants themselves require dedicated spaces for reflection, connection, and skill-building to sustain their complex work.
The Consultant Institute: Reflection, Relationships and Rejuvenation will provide approximately 60 IECMH consultants and RPCs from across Wisconsin with an essential opportunity to connect with peers, deepen their reflective practice skills, and enhance their ability to facilitate reflection with others. Through collaborative learning experiences, participants will strengthen their capacity to support professionals working with children birth to five, ultimately improving social and emotional outcomes for young children.
By creating a space where consultants feel "held" in supportive relationships while exploring the complexities of their work, this event addresses a critical need in the early childhood mental health consultation field. The institute will not only rejuvenate these essential professionals but also enhance their effectiveness in preventing mental health challenges and promoting healthy development among Wisconsin's youngest children.
