Empowering future healthcare providers with advance care planning skills
Return to Listing
Despite the critical importance of advance care planning (ACP) in ensuring patient-centered healthcare decisions, there is a significant gap in nursing education regarding ACP facilitation skills. Only one-third of Americans have completed healthcare directives, highlighting the urgent need for healthcare providers skilled in these conversations.
With funding support from AHW, this learning event at the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire will equip healthcare workforce students with practical skills for facilitating advance care planning discussions. Through expert presentations, interactive workshops, and hands-on case studies, participants will develop confidence in guiding these essential conversations. Special emphasis will be placed on rural healthcare needs and Wisconsin-specific legislation, with graduate nursing students leading practice sessions to build real competency in ACP facilitation.
