Increasing the number of eligible children who enroll in Wisconsin’s public health insurance programs
Return to Listing
The number of uninsured Wisconsin residents is rising, and along with it, health disparities experienced by certain communities. Uninsured children are ten-times less likely to have a regular source of care, and five times more likely to have unmet health needs like eyeglasses, asthma treatment, or prescription drugs. While Family Medicaid programs are available to many low-income children, however, the process to enroll can be perceived as unaffordable and burdensome to low-income families.
This project will encourage healthier outcomes and reduce health care access disparities for low-income children in Wisconsin by augmenting an infrastructure that will increase enrollment in Wisconsin’s Family Medicaid program. By working with schools to identify and target students likely eligible for the program, and engaging school personnel, the project will enhance health outcomes for low-income children.
