Project Description Narrative:

Lead in drinking water is a critical public health issue, due to the severe threats to cognitive, behavioral, and physical development, especially in children, and its prevalence in older homes across the U.S., including Milwaukee.

This project will address lead exposure in Milwaukee’s home daycare centers by identifying and testing for elevated water lead levels, replacing lead service lines, and educating the community on lead poisoning prevention.

By focusing on economically disadvantaged areas and partnering with various organizations, this project will significantly reduce water lead level in daycare centers, improving the health and safety of many children in Milwaukee.

Community partners: Coalition on Lead Emergency, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Children’s Health Alliance, Social Development Commission, 4C for Children
