Engaging the Fox Valley community to plan for equitable transit access
Return to Listing
Equitable access to transportation has a direct impact on social determinants of health, including a person's ability to get a job, find affordable housing, access healthy food, connect to friends and family, and be physically active. In consultation with a large group of community stakeholders, Fox Valley Thrives, a regional alliance working to advance health equity through aligned efforts, relationship and capacity building, co-learning and strategic action, recognized the need to engage the community in defining transportation access needs in the region and empowering those community members to help drive change. This project aims to engage transit users, pedestrians, and bicyclists to identify factors that impact their transportation journey resulting in a summary report and long-term strategic plan that Fox Valley Thrives will use to engage the community to advocate for improved transit access to advance health outcomes in the region.
