Full Project Name:Development of a Curriculum Practice-Based Learning and Improvement for Residents: A “Train the Trainer” ApproachPrincipal Investigator:Geoffrey C Lamb, MD, MedicineAward Amount:$136,611
Award Date
April2007
Project Duration:36 months

Project Description Narrative:

Practice-based learning and improvement (PBLI) is one of the core competencies mandated by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, yet there is no consistent program for teaching these skills in the MCW system. Faculty, themselves educated in traditional residencies, are ill-prepared to help their residents with PBLI. Faculty will require training, not only to develop their own skills, but to teach these skills to residents. The purpose of this project is to develop a curriculum to teach residents skills for lifelong PBLI and to develop a cadre of motivated faculty trained to use the curriculum to disseminate these skills.
