Project Description Narrative:

This project will enhance continuing medical education (CME) offerings for health professionals by utilizing distance learning to increase accessibility. Using iPods, ANGEL, presentation capture software, and the Internet, the researchers will preserve MCW CME offerings (initially grand rounds from Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Bioethics), make them available to Wisconsin physicians via the Internet, and educate established Milwaukee area doctors on how to use this new technology.

Using audio/visual capture software such as Camtasia along with existing computer hardware, the project team will record grand rounds presentations from the sponsoring groups and then upload them to ANGEL, making them available for viewing on the Internet or for downloading to portable devices such as the iPod (podcasting). They will conduct an active marketing campaign to increase physician awareness of the resource. They will provide a series of hands-on instruction classes utilizing MCW’s computer labs to teach older physicians the use of new technology.
