Project Duration:36 months

Project Description Narrative:

Evidence–based studies show that effective communication skills are associated with improved health outcomes. Feedback from patients often refers to the ability of the resident to communicate and adapt to diversity.

Simulated patient encounters with standardized patients have been widely accepted as an approach to both providing learning and assessment in interpersonal and communication skills. The objective of this project is to use the Clinical Skills and Learning Center to develop an educational curriculum to teach patient-centered communication skills, provide faculty observation and feedback for residents, train faculty members and improve the overall quality of patient care.
