Helping Medical College of Wisconsin students recognize and develop effective leadership styles as future physician leaders
Return to Listing
Today's medical students are tomorrow's physician leaders. It is essential that students are given early exposure to the diverse, exciting leadership roles that exist in healthcare for physicians that are complementary to their clinical roles. However, MCW and the vast majority of medical schools lack standardized, formal curricula for all medical students in needed and desired leadership development and the business of healthcare.
Through Learning Event Support funding, the learning event aims to help students recognize and develop effective leadership styles as future physician leaders. The Student Leadership Development Initiative supports students to understand career opportunities and strategies to achieve professional goals, adopt fundamental values of good leadership essential to motivating a clinical team, learn how to better practice a healthy lifestyle in mind, body, and spirit, garner insights into teamwork, mentorship, and innovation, and be introduced to people and resources to help participating students excel and overcome challenges.
