Project Description Narrative:

Adolescence is an important transitional period, providing youth an oportunity to develop critical knowledge and skills needed for adulthood. Research shows significant barrers that influence an adolescent's willingness to appropriately use health care services, including concerns and fears about confidentiality, stigma, and judgmental attitudes of health care providers. PATCH (Providers and Teens Communicating for Health) is committed to improving the way adolescents receive and experience health care in Wisconsin.

Through Learning Event Support funding, the learning event will bring together a multidisciplinary audience of Wisconsin health care professionals to learn, share, and grow as adolescent health champions and advocates. The 2020 PATCH Symposium will support participants to understand the realities of young people in health care settings, identify educational, practice improvement, and policy opportunities to enhance adolescent health services, and acquire the confidence and skills to be adolescent health champions in their communities.
