Project Description Narrative:


The public health community has a responsibility to acknowledge racism, advocate for equitable policies, and inform the public discourse as well as impact the social determinants of health through policy. There is a continued need for public health professionals from around Wisconsin to engage in education to support their work to be increasingly more impactful in uplifting racism and health equity as a public health crisis across Wisconsin.

Through Learning Event Support funding, the learning event will provide attendees with examples, tools, and motivation to create effective public health programs and policies achieved through collaboration and requiring strong leadership at all levels. The 2020 Annual Public Health Conference will support participants to explore new topics or skills that challenge their current thinking and practice, collaborate in new ways to break down silos in the public health system, and initiate plans to affect policy change to improve health.

Outcomes & Lessons Learned:


  • Engaged 183 attendees from across Wisconsin in a month-long virtual conference featuring recorded session focused on COVID-19, legislative issues, new skill building, and data and performance management along with weekly live keynote sessions
