Expanding Thyroid Care: Exploring Minimally Invasive Treatment with Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

Project Summary:

The goal of this educational event is to increase healthcare provider understanding of the clinical indications, patient selection criteria, and outcomes associated with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in the treatment of thyroid disease. By expanding awareness of this minimally invasive treatment option, the program aims to improve access to evidence-based care and expand treatment pathways for patients across Wisconsin. As minimally invasive technologies for thyroid disease continue to evolve, providers must remain informed on the appropriate, evidence-based use of these therapies. Many clinicians may have limited familiarity with RFA, its outcomes, and its role compared to traditional surgical management. This educational activity is designed to improve provider awareness so appropriate patients can be identified, counseled, and referred for specialty evaluation more effectively within their communities. The event will include expert-led presentations on evidence-based indications, patient selection, clinical outcomes, and practical application of RFA. Case presentations and discussion will further enhance understanding by demonstrating how RFA can be applied to individual patients in practice and support translation of knowledge into clinical decision-making. This educational event is designed for Wisconsin-based healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis, referral, and management of thyroid disease.
