Full Project Name:Learning Event Support: Closing Health Equity Gaps in Wisconsin CommunitiesPrimary Community Organization:The Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare QualityAward Amount:$5,000
Award Date
March2026
Project Duration:5 months

Project Summary:

Wisconsin faces significant health disparities, with some of the worst racial disparities in the nation. Additional geographic disparities exist, noting that all communities are affected. These disparities exist in all areas: based on payer (i.e., Medicaid disparities), geography (i.e., rural disparities), and race/ethnicity. This education event will focus on how presenters have identified disparity gaps and how they are working to improve these gaps, giving attendees opportunities to replicate programs and/or engage with presenters to continue to move this work forward. The event will help attendees build understanding of key disparities affecting Wisconsin communities and return to work with key strategies to disrupt barriers; formulate implementation ready strategies to improve social determinants of health; and Identify opportunities to improve access to care to improve health disparities. This event is public and open to anyone in the healthcare ecosystem working to improve healthcare quality. The event’s primary audience and focus of marketing will be with Wisconsin health system clinical staff, quality nurses, quality staff, social workers, and community programming throughout the state. This type of opportunity brings providers together to network and collaborate on best practices and initiatives to work together to improve care. The event is expected to attract around 150 participants in person. The event has been structured and outlined by WCHQ staff in collaboration with WCHQ members who are champions for improving healthcare value and work together regularly to do so. Because WCHQ is a quality improvement organization, they will offer Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality continuing education, in hopes to draw an increase audience of healthcare quality professionals.
