Learning Event Support: Pituitary Adrenal Symposium

Building effective multidisciplinary teams for Cushing's syndrome management

Full Project Name:Learning Event Support: Pituitary Adrenal SymposiumPrincipal Investigator:Sophie Dream, MD, MPH, FACS, SurgeryAward Amount:$4,978

Project Duration:5 months

Project Summary:

Cushing's syndrome is a complex endocrine disorder that requires coordinated care across multiple specialties. While surgery remains the primary treatment approach, nearly one-third of patients require additional interventions, and management is complicated by emerging understanding of Mild Autonomous Cortisol Secretion (MACS) and the long-term consequences of both hypercortisolism and glucocorticoid withdrawal.

MCW's Pituitary Adrenal Symposium will bring together experts to address critical aspects of Cushing's syndrome management, including surgical challenges, recent pharmacotherapy advances, and strategies for building effective multidisciplinary care teams. Healthcare providers will gain practical knowledge in managing complex cases, understanding new treatment options, and recognizing subtle presentations like MACS.

The symposium will cover comprehensive care strategies addressing both immediate treatment needs and long-term health impacts across cardiovascular, metabolic, musculoskeletal, and neuropsychologic systems.
