Award Date
September2024
Project Duration:4 months

Project Summary:

Primary care providers struggle to stay current with the latest evidence-based practices due to busy clinical schedules, resulting in delayed adoption of new treatments and limited awareness of optimal management strategies for common conditions. Supporting ongoing education in primary care is critical to improving patient outcomes across Wisconsin.

With funding support from AHW, this conference will deliver expert presentations on critical topics including osteoarthritis management, substance use medications, new dementia treatments, and family planning options.

This educational offering will provide approximately 100 community-based primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants—primarily from Wisconsin—with opportunities to update their knowledge and enhance their diagnostic and therapeutic skills.

Outcomes & Lessons Learned:

  • Engaged the audience with multiple different keynote speakers and topics
  • Found unique areas to discuss, in particular, care of individuals after incarceration, which was a highly attended breakout session and showed high scores in the evaluation
