Reducing the burden of intentional and unintentional injuries in Wisconsin through community-based injury prevention coalitions
Return to Listing
Injuries are the number one leading cause of death for people ages one to 44 in Wisconsin. Every year, 575,000 people visit an emergency department because of an injury. Here are limited injury prevention activities happening at local levels in Wisconsin, and with scarce resources, areas in most need of attention may not be receiving support.
The Injury Prevention Coalition project will reduce the burden of intentional and unintentional injuries in Wisconsin by supporting the development of community-based injury prevention coalitions. The coalitions will identify, prioritize, and intervene to change areas of injury that have the most impact on their communities. This project will provide seed money for five communities across Wisconsin to develop injury prevention coalitions.
