Project Description Narrative:
In Milwaukee, there are a growing number of emergency detentions at local emergency rooms for adults experiencing psychiatric crisis, due to social factors affecting this population, paired with changes in multiple service delivery systems. Milwaukee’s number of emergency detentions exceeds comparable-sized cities by more than 3,000.
This project will create a 24/7 community-based, recovery-driven, voluntary psychiatric crises treatment center, connecting Milwaukee residents with mental illness to existing community services provided by a broad-based, system wide partnership.
