Project Description Narrative:

Seven ZIP codes in Milwaukee account for the highest number of injured children admitted to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and studies have determined that home safety is the top concern of many of the areas’ residents. These zip codes also had a high number of burns, falls, poisonings, and other injuries, experienced by children in and around their homes.

This project aims to reduce morbidity and mortality of children ages five and younger in Milwaukee’s inner city due to unintentional injuries at home. This will be accomplished by strengthening existing community-based partnerships and evaluating the most effective injury prevention initiatives to create meaningful change in this community.
