Project Description Narrative:

Data shows that our society is becoming increasingly overweight and inactive. Overweight and obesity occurs at higher rates in minority populations, and women and persons of low socioeconomic status are particularly affected. For children, poor nutrition habits can affect their ability to learn in school, and can have life-long effects on their overall health outcomes.

Partners in this project will develop a curriculum with age-appropriate activities to improve the nutritional and exercise behaviors of pre-school, school age, teen, and adult caregivers to pretend or lower the risks of health problems that are related to being overweight, obese, and lacking a nutritious diet and physical activity.

Community partners: University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee
