Piloting a public and community health policy development module for inclusion in the summer 2007

Minorities experience much higher rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and other health conditions than whites do. As Wisconsin communities become more diverse, it’s essential to reduce health disparities across racial and ethnic minority groups.
This project will transform health improvement efforts by building health policy leadership capacity among college and MCW students. A pilot project will be conducted in which students use health policy leadership modules to develop their capacity to address community health disparities. This will result in an increased student awareness of health disparities and policy issues and enhancing their leadership skills to improve Wisconsin health.
