Increasing the availability of and access to local mental health service options
Return to Listing
Only one-third of the adult population that has a diagnosable mental or addictive disorder receive care, and of those, less than half receive care from mental health specialists. Rural communities are at a particular disadvantage for mental health, and there are many barriers encountered by rural residents in accessing mental health services.
This project will assess community mental health needs in order to increase the availability of access to local mental health service options. A strategy will be developed for long-term support for mental health programs and initiatives and a plan will be developed for how to increase access to mental health services.
