In Cumberland, a small rural community located in northwestern Wisconsin, community members have become concerned about high incidence of cardiovascular death and cardiovascular disease risk factors, as well as increasing levels of obesity in school children. The Healthier Cumberland Coalition was formed to address these health threats and to improve Cumberland citizen’s health.

This project will plan and pilot a school-based program fostering healthy eating patterns for children and increasing physical activity. Project partners expect that the pilot project will cultivate a culture of preventative lifestyle behaviors within the community that will support a healthier Cumberland.
