Improving health outcomes for southeastern Wisconsin's African American older adults
Return to Listing
With an AHW-funded grant, the Elder Health Upholder project was previously established to explore unmet health needs of Milwaukee’s African American elder communities, and to develop relationships with African American Churches and place volunteers within the churches who could eb trained to provide health education resources.
Through this next project, project partners will add churches to its current grouping, develop and deliver new health focused train-the-trainer modules on diabetes and arthritis, and establish a coalition and joint mission for the participating partnership pastors.
These efforts will result in a transformative impact on African American elder health, within the enriched cultural contexts of churches.
