Domestic Violence Screening in South Central Wisconsin

Laying the groundwork for more effective domestic violence screening programs, prevention activities, and intervention strategies

Project Duration:12 months

Project Description Narrative:

One in three emergency department visits are the result of intentional injuries to women, precipitated by domestic violence. In rural Wisconsin, these incidents are intensified by isolation from service providers and lacking prevention resources. Though health care professionals are in a position to screen patients for domestic violence, they do not routinely do so, missing opportunities to prevent these injuries.

Through this project, counties served by Hope House of South-Central Wisconsin will be surveyed, and a plan of action will be developed to improve systematic community health screening techniques for domestic violence victims.
