Reducing risk and incidence of physical, emotional, and material abuse of older adults in Milwaukee County
Return to Listing
Elder abuse occurs when an elder is subject to physical abuse, material abuse, neglect by others, or self-neglect. There has been an increase in elder abuse in Milwaukee County, and a growing need for there to be clear methods for professionals and community members to recognize and respond to these incidents.
Partners in this project will develop a clear strategic plan to increase recognition, response, and referral by health/social professionals, law enforcement, older adults, their families, and others in the community, in order to reduce risk for and incidences of physical, emotional, and material abuse of older adults in Milwaukee County.
Community partners: University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Center on Age and Community, and MCW Department of Emergency-Medicine Firearm Injury Center
