Project Description Narrative:

Ethnically diverse children (ages 3-18) who are served by UNCOM (United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee) don’t have consistent access to school physical fitness programs, are often sedentary, are often overweight, and are more likely to be at risk for chronic disease.

Through this project, two UNCOM neighborhood centers will implement a curriculum to help children and their families make healthier choices about nutrition and physical activity. Project partners aim to provide education around choosing healthy foods and beverages, help participating children maintain normal weight or reduce overweight, and create an evidence-based program for replication in other urban communities.
