Peer supporters who have experienced their own mental health issues are in a unique position to support others and improve their quality of life. Peer supporters can help individuals understand and manager their illnesses, provide emotional support, help individuals re-establish social networks.
Through this project, Peer Support Services will be integrated into Milwaukee and Waukesha County’s behavioral health systems, with the broader goal of extending Peer Support into other systems catering to individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
