Driving community action to prevent alcohol-related violence through partnerships and data sharing
Return to Listing
Research shows that violence is extremely concentrated along certain city blocks in specific neighborhoods, communities, and cities, suggesting that many health inequities exist across Wisconsin communities. As such, the target population to be impacted by this study is vulnerable communities that suffer from disproportionate levels of interpersonal violence.
This project is designed to develop new partnerships to broaden the collection and analyses of data to inform future research on the intersection of alcohol and violence in Wisconsin and to share learnings with system and community stakeholders and communities impacted by violence to foster community-driven action. The focus of this project is on Milwaukee, given the high level of serious violent crime and firearm violence that the city has experienced in recent years, particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the high density of alcohol outlets. Findings will be translated into actionable recommendations so that local alcohol policy can be tailored to reduce the risk of alcohol-related harm.
