Full Project Name:Guns, Grief, & Grace Toolkit: A Framework for Public Health Dialogue on Gun ViolencePrimary Community Organization:Carroll UniversityAward Amount:$10,000.00
Award Date
November2016
Project Duration:3 months

Project Description Narrative:

Preventing gun violence is a massive undertaking that continues to elude communities. The current high level of political and societal polarization is a significant contributor to stagnated conversations on preventing gun violence. There is a need to shift this divisive framework to one that seeks common ground with reliable data and engagement that elicits meaningful civic dialogue and fosters collaboration around prevention. To do so requires a strong coalition of diverse stakeholders governed by a shared vision and collaborative plan to lead the change. This project aimed to engage Milwaukee-area stakeholders in collaboratively designing a strategic framework to create and foster a sustained public health dialogue on gun violence prevention through an evidence-supported, updated, online toolkit as a resource for a range of greater Milwaukee audiences.
