Project Description Narrative:


The 2024 Solid Organ Transplant Symposium will provide an educational experience focused on the best practices, access, and innovations in pancreas and kidney transplantation as well as contemporary issues in liver disease management.

A diverse group of attendees, including gastroenterologists, nephrologists, nurses, social workers, dietitians, and dialysis technicians will learn about current transplant criteria and new organ access options; organ matching and donation; treatment therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) management; best practices for liver disease management; and options for patients with severe acute alcoholic hepatitis (AAH).

The event will offer engaging case discussions with expert panelists, as well as a Q&A session with living donors who will address their experiences with organ matching and transplantation.

Outcomes & Lessons Learned:


  • Conducted a high level conference regarding new research findings and information related to liver and kidney transplantation, organ donation and disease
  • Discussed new procedures and what is to come in the future, including the role of AI as well as artificial kidneys
  • Used breakout learning sessions to discuss case studies as well as had 2 expert plenary speakers elaborate on specific groundbreaking procedures and research outcomes
