Full Project Name:Systems Biology Program in Cardiovascular DiseasePrincipal Investigator:Howard J Jacob, PhD, PhysiologyCo-Investigator:Melinda R Dwinell, PhD, PhysiologyAward Amount:$813,581
Award Date
August2008
Project Duration:30 months

Project Description Narrative:

Over the last seven years the Program in Genomics Application (PGA) at MCW has been developing and phenotyping important rat models, notably the consomic (chromosome substitutions) rat models. The PGA at MCW program, known as PhysGen, now has nearly the same amount of data as the Framingham Heart Study (FHS), which has more than 50 years of history. For the last six months, MCW researchers have been exploring potential interactions with the FHS, the Family Blood Pressure Program and a large cohort from Europe. This project is designed to enable team members to develop data and actively collaborate with these clinical cohorts, positioning them for grant opportunities over the next two years.
