Project Description Narrative:

Investigators in many disciplines at MCW wish to use prepared tissue samples for analysis of cellular, molecular, and genetic characteristics of health and diseased tissues extracted from animals and humans. These investigators do not have the equipment, facility, knowledge, and experience to prepare tissue specimens. Use of outside, for-profit services involve high costs and frustrating delays. This project seeks to establish a histology and tissue preparation laboratory to meet the needs of investigators at MCW outside the Department of Physiology and Center for Human and Molecular Genetics. The lab will provide a needed resource to MCW investigators studying cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, and many other health conditions. It will stimulate the development of additional tissue banks and MCW as companions to existing brain and prostate tissue banks and will facilitate the expansion of cellular, molecular, and genetic analysis to existing and new research programs at MCW.
