Full Project Name:Identification of Attention and Executive Impairment in Early Neurological InjuryPrincipal Investigator:Amy K Heffelfinger, PhD, NeurologyAward Amount:$87,287
Award Date
January2005
Project Duration:29 months

Project Description Narrative:

This project will develop appropriate measures for attention and executive dysfunction for use in clinical settings with infants and pre-school children who have suffered neurologic injury. The researcher will also determine possible risk and protective factors that influence early neurocognitive and functional outcomes of infants and young children with neurologic injury. These studies will provide feasibility data for a longitudinal investigation of the development and treatment of attention and executive functions in children and suggest that early rehabilitation will substantially reduce the risk for lifelong dysfunction.
