Project Description Narrative:


Funding for this project will be used to support a range of core equipment purchases to facilitate fundamental and translational research in the Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center, including the following:

  • A high throughput ion trap mass spectrometer (Thermo Electron LTQ) that will be used primarily for analysis of samples derived from clinical collaborations
  • A nanoflow liquid chromatography system for separation of samples before mass spectrometer analysis
  • A real-time PCR system for valuation of candidate proteins identified by mass spectrometer screening experiments
  • An ultra-speed centrifuge required for sample preparations
  • Confocal microscope system
  • The Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering Center is dedicated to bringing the best available technology to MCW users and providing the necessary expertise to allow collaborators to take advantage of new technology in research.
