AHW announces award of $1.2 million to MCW to advance precision medicine around most common and important ear, nose, and throat disorders

January 8, 2020 - The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) has announced the award of $1.2 million in funding to establish a new program at the Medical College of Wisconsin that will bring personalized medicine to the field of otolaryngology.

Otolaryngologic disorders are among the most prevalent of conditions affecting health both in Wisconsin and globally. These common and impactful conditions include neurodegenerative conditions (hearing loss, balance disorders,), cancer (head and neck cancer, skull-base tumors), and inflammatory diseases (otitis media, tonsillitis, sinusitis) that have many causes, treatment options, and responses to interventions.

By establishing a dedicated precision medicine program within the field, the MCW department of otolaryngology and communication sciences aims to advance health care delivery for these common and impactful conditions in Wisconsin, improve understanding of the individual causes of these diseases and personalized responses to treatment, and support the development of a diverse and well-trained workforce in the field.

Please wait while we gather your results.
